D’son, painter from Bahia, Brazil

D’son is a self-taught Brazilian visual artist, born and raised in Salvador, Bahia in the northeast of Brazil. He grew up in Pelourinho, the historic centre of Salvador, among local artists of many different stripes: musicians, capoeiristas, painters and dancers. His paintings can rapidly be recognized because of his distinctive colourful style.
From October to December 2025 D’son participates at the 11th Geoje International Art Festival in South Korea.

Colourful paintings

D’sons art was influenced by the rich culture which surrounded him growing up. He uses acrylic paint on canvas to portray the landmarks of Bahia and its distinctive characters. He also paints landscapes and seascapes inspired by places that he has lived and visited such as Portugal, the UK and, of course, Brazil. D’son currently lives and works in Wales.
